The first Friday back after October half term saw AVSSP’s annual Junior Leadership Conference. The event allows leaders from our schools to come together and improve their understanding of the role of a Junior Sports Leader (JSL).

Over 160 children joined us to brainstorm ideas, talk about what makes a good leader, practice playground games and strengthen their bond with some team building activities. Including a fantastic band of secondary school leaders from Swanwick Sports College!

The leaders took part in a carousel of activities, each one designed to have a specific impact on the development of the children as JSL’s. For example, a ‘Playground Games’ station that allowed children to practice setting up, running and adapting games to suit their peers. Children also shared ideas on how to make games easier or harder for the others taking part. We discussed safety points and considerations as well as what equipment might be needed for an effective delivery of the activity.

Everyone who came and joined us on Friday was fabulous and we hope you enjoyed it! All of us at AVSSP certainly did so, a huge thank you from us! 💙
