Enrichment Opportunities with AVSSP

Here at AVSSP we offer a wide range of Enrichment opportunities designed to increase participation in physical activity and provide memorable experiences for children of all ages and abilities.

Each activity aims to develop physical, emotional and social skills through experiencing new sports, working as a team, learning new skills or simply having fun whilst being active.

We offer enrichment activities all year round and have split this section into terms to show events that can be delivered inside during winter months and outside during spring/summer.

Half Term 1-3

The events in this section are most suitable for half terms 1-3 due to requiring indoor space.

Tough Rower

Launched in 2019 Tough Rower see’s students access state of the art Rowing technology to compete in dry-side races in house, class or mixed ability teams. Their efforts on the rowing machines are shown on a large screen in real time allowing for an incredible atmosphere as students race against each other and their teachers!

The technology also allows for each child to be given a baseline fitness score and gives them the opportunity to better that score later in the lesson, relay races are another terrific way of including all students in a safe environment!

AVSSP will provide all equipment, software and resources along with at least 2 members of staff to support pupils through technique and racing safely

Story Walk & Fundamentals Event

Link reading and physical activity with our Story Walk event in your school. Using popular story books as the basis we will walk pupils through a series of environments, challenges and actions to bring the story to life.

Activities are linked to the fundamentals of movement and focus on the ABC’sof agility, balance and coordination whilst providing a sensory experience with bespoke equipment. An ideal way to subtly implement physical activity interventions for your cohort.

Pick ‘N’ Mix Multi-Sport

Provide pupils with a range of new experiences in sport with taster sessions across a range of unique activities to suit your facilities and curriculum.

AVSSP staff are well-versed in delivering numerous sports and can bring knowledge and enthusiasm to the lessons.

Flexible to suit your school size or targeted cohort, schools will generally pick 3-4 of the following sports:

Axe Throwing, New Age Kurling, Archery, Goalball, Fencing, American (Flag) Football, Lacrosse, Volleyball, Hockey, Golf, Disc Golf, Rounders/Baseball, Boxing Fitness, Ultimate Frisbee, Boccia

Balance Bike Festival

Put your youngest children on the pathway to riding their bike by offering fun, inclusive workshops on our fleet of Balance Bikes.

Pupils will work through the fundamentals of riding from starting, stopping and steering all the way to informal racing and use of ramps alongside AVSSP staff.

All bikes and helmets provided with timetables flexible to suit each cohort.

Scooter Smart Training

Encourage safe active travel by delivering Scooter Smart training in school. Supported by the Derbyshire County Council Modeshift Stars programme our training aims to increase confidence and competence of each child on their scooter by teaching the basics in starting, stopping, control and balance with essential skills transferable across all physical activity.

Pupils to provide their own scooter where possible but some will be provided.

Health and Wellbeing Workshops

Increase knowledge and understanding in the importance of health and wellbeing and how to positively impact upon it with delivery of AVSSP’s tailored resource.

Across 5 sessions we cover Hydration, Sugars, Balanced Diets, Energy release and Mental wellbeing using structured Q&A, interactive lessons and easy to follow fitness sessions.

Children love to take their learning home and will often comment on how they’ve asked parents to help them eat/drink more healthily.

Can be delivered across a 5-week programme or a one-off day for a targeted year group.

Half Term 4-6

The events in this section are most suitable for half terms 4-6 as can be delivered outdoors.

Tough Runner

Launched in 2018 the AVSSP Tough Runner is a mobile assault course which can engage your whole school in an exciting, inclusive health and fitness experience. As well as being physically challenging the activity will develop students’ resilience, self-belief and integrity as they are encouraged to overcome each different physical challenge as they combat the Tough Runner.

The activity course will be set up on your school site and lead by SSP staff with students facing challenges such as climbing walls, cargo netting, tyre runs, balance beams and barbed wire before earning their reward of trying out our 13ft inflatable slip and slide!

Ozzy’s Obstacle Course

AVSSP’s Ozzy’s Obstacle Course is a mobile obstacle course aiming to involve your KS1 students in exciting physical activity. The course is a fun, inclusive physical challenge that will test your student’s self-belief, resilience and determination however, we’ve added a fun twist to keep the students engaged.

The event will be set up on your school site and lead by SSP staff with one of two Pirate based themes delivered. Students will face challenges such as cargo nets, tyre runs, balance beams and barbed wire before earning their reward of trying out our inflatable Ozzy the Octopus slide!

Water Wars

What better end of year treat than a Water War!? Test your pupils with a series of water themed challenges in teams and individually.

Challenges include water transfer challenges, water balloon capture the flag, water wars with a range of pistols and our huge inflatable slide!

Whichever challenge set the children are guaranteed to get wet!

2025 Women’s Euros Festival

Celebrate the latest Major International Football tournament and show support to the Lionesses by hosting a Euro’s Festival.

AVSSP will coordinate small-sided football matches across each key stage intertwined with classroom and whole school activities.

Each child will be allocated a country to play for with points awarded for football results, behaviour, effort and determination and arts & craft creations seeing a winning team crowned at the end of the day.

Bubble Football

Celebrate the latest Major International Football tournament and show support to the Lionesses by hosting a Euro’s Festival.

AVSSP will coordinate small-sided football matches across each key stage intertwined with classroom and whole school activities.

Each child will be allocated a country to play for with points awarded for football results, behaviour, effort and determination and arts & craft creations seeing a winning team crowned at the end of the day.

All Year Round

The events in this section are suitable all year round.

Dance Curriculum Delivery

Bring knowledge and enthusiasm to your curriculum and take the pressure off teaching staff with a fully qualified, highly skilled dance teacher.

Our teachers can deliver a range of styles and work to AVSSP Dance lesson planning or other schemes building confidence in pupils to work towards a performance either in or out of school.

Flexible to suit the school’s timetable and available in either a half or full day. Ideal as either a 6-week block or as a one-off celebration day

Skipping Activity Day

Skipping is a fun, challenging and progressive way to be physically active.

Teach your pupils this fantastic skill by taking part in fun games, activities and challenges which can be adapted to suit each class/year group.

Delivered by AVSSP staff pupils will enjoy showing off their new skills and working on the next trick. All ropes provided.

Martial Arts Delivery

Build focus, confidence and control through specialist Martial Arts teaching in school. A great way to diversify the PE curriculum and to provide a different opportunity for pupils to be successful in PE.

Although a combat sport our Martial Arts delivery focusses on respect, determination, resilience and self-belief.

Delivered by local specialists and flexible to suit your school’s timetable with full or half day options. Ideal as either a 6-week block or as a one-off celebration day

Olympic and Paralympic Festival

Give pupils a taste of Olympic and Paralympic Sports across a themed activity day on your school site.

Choosing from a number of Olympic/Paralympic sports AVSSP will offer introductory sessions to broaden the children’s experience in sport.

Activities including Volleyball, Hockey, Golf, Boccia, Goalball, Fencing, Archery and more are available to choose from.

Pupils will be allocated an Olympic/Paralympic nation and encouraged to continue the theme into the classroom by designing their flag, creating an Olympic torch, writing a new national anthem and more.
