As you assess your pupil’s attainment levels in PE & Physical Activity you’ll notice a proportion of children who regularly fail to meet National curriculum expectations or struggle with basic physical movements.

It’s our responsibility to do all we can to raise the physical attainment levels of each child with Motor Skill Development an incredibly impactful method of boosting competency levels.

Delivered to small groups of targeted children the 17 activity programme aims to increase core strength, flexibility and balance which can have a huge impact on concentration levels, handwriting skills as well as engagement in PE

It can often be daunting to plan a PE lesson to incorporate a range of additional needs or disabilities and adapting sessions effectively for all pupils is often out of the reach of PE lesson plans.

To provide a greater understanding and confidence in how to work alongside pupils with SEND and additional needs to plan effective lessons or physical activities AVSSP have years of experience of delivering bespoke CPD sessions to a wide range of staff

Whether you have a specific child or cohort you need support with or think your staff would benefit from a targeted session to increase knowledge on a range of additional needs and the impact those needs can have on participation in PE.

We know that in most schools staff confidence levels vary depending on the sport they’re faced with teaching.

An effective way to improve your PE curriculum would be to survey your staff on their confidence delivering the curriculum and any knowledge gaps which may be consistent across the staff team.

Once you know what support you’ll need AVSSP can deliver tailored twilights to build confidence in a subject area, offer easy-win activities and boost pupil engagement. Delivered on your site using your own facilities and equipment these sessions aim to make your staff more comfortable with the idea of delivering excellent PE.

Common themes we see include Gymnastics, Dance and Striking & Fielding but any knowledge gap can be accommodated for.
